We are currently recuriting a Grounds person/Gardener on behalf of a client in Twickenham.

The main duties will include - 

  • Maintaining the playing surfaces and amenities within the clients premises. 
  • To assist in the smooth operation of the clients waste and recycling streams. 
  • To undertake the preparation, maintenence and renovation work on a range of sports facilities and surfaces, including undertaking all preparatary and cultivation work to maintain safe quality playing surfaces. 
  • The creation, marking out and setting up of a range of different pitch markings for the provision of training facilities or competitive sport to student and external customers. 
  • Liase and interact with customers and staff on Grounds and Gardens matters on a daily basis, providing clear guidance and instruction as required. This will include guiding users of the external sports surfaces on their use of the facilities, the suitability of booked outdoor space and on changes to their bookings where outside factors such as the weather have an impact. 
  • To undertake general gardening and grounds maintenence duties including pruning, mowing, weeding and planting. 
  • To set up and safely use a wide range or equipment/machinery and hand tools. Ensure equipment is correctly set up and maintained: adjusting, repairing or changing equipment as required based on suitability for task, problems or quality of finish issues identified.
  • Supervise students, casual staff of those undertaking community payback in the undertaking of their tasks and to ensure their safety. Provide training as required.
  • Undertake a range of soft and hard landscaping duties including minor construction work as detiled on work schedules or as directed by Grounds Manager or Deputy Grounds Manager.
The ideal candidate will have/be - 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Well organised and able to prioritise and manage allocated tasks to achieve targets
  • Ability to work well in a team context and also unsupervised
  • Ability to use own initiative to solve problems and complete tasks effectively
  • Willingness and ability to become familiar with work within the clients guidelines
  • You will be able to read and understand operator manuals for a wide range of equipment, to ensure its safe and correct use and maintenance
  • Proven competence in machinery operation
  • Strong Health & Safety awareness
  • Full Driving licence 
  • Flexible
Working hours - 36 hours per week (plus some additional work for key events as required which overtime or time in lieu will be received).
