- Design technical solutions for off-highway diesel & electric driven pumping solutions based on customer requirements and in accordance with our internal New Product Introduction procedure.
- Design new generation of electrical systems to integrate pumping solutions.
- To work in accordance with health and safety requirement from BS EN 60204, BS EN 62061, EMC and Machinery Directives.
- Work closely with Research & Development technicians to validate the products & specifications.
Design function
- Design wiring harnesses for electric and diesel driven pumps.
- Contribute to the design of PCB modules to control and protect diesel engine control system.
- Contribute to developing new control panels for electric and diesel pump-set.
- Design components required for the electrical installation.
- Produce accurate design, bill of materials, detailed drawings in accordance with international standards and company procedures, within agreed timescales.
- Ensure designs are functional, safe and cost effective, while maintaining the expected quality & QHSE standards.
- Produce concise written specifications which give all information necessary for procurement of required proprietary parts.
- Maintain Design Office records in accordance with Company procedures.
- Contribute with N.P.I. (New Product Introduction) projects, from concept to production handover with the aim to be Right First Time.
- Ensure technical files for new installation are complete in accordance with Machinery Directives.
- Ensure prompt delivery of projects involving external suppliers, ensuring Right First Time with adequate communication and verification of delivered designs.
- Implementing changes to improve productivity, quality and cost.
- Work closely with production engineering and ensure day-to-day issues are resolved.
- Responsible for warranty return investigations.
- Assist with queries from the different departments within the organisation and sub-contract suppliers.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure ‘best available practice’ is maintained through the manufacturing process.
- Minimum – Degree or HND/HNC in a relevant discipline (e.g. electrical engineering)
- At least 3 years of experience with proven electrical design background in machinery.
- Proven experience of working on 3 phase electric motor installations.
- Experience on PLC programming and electrical harness design.
- Proven Experience on BS 7671 or BS EN 60204-1.
- Advanced experience in diesel engine installations.
- Experience using CAD software (e.g. Inventor, Solidworks)
- 18th Edition Qualification.
